Michigan!

A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to visit my friend Beth in Michigan. I got there Thursday night, just in time for a major snow storm to hit the area! The ride home from the airport was a bit of a white-knuckle trip, but the snow day on Friday was superb!

Here are some pictures from my trip. One of Beth's friends has new puppies, so we got to go see the tiny Golden Retrievers. So cute!

Playoffs!

For the past four years, I've been playing fantasy football with some of my friends. For those who have never played, fantasy football involves creating your "dream team" from the roster of available NFL players and competing against others in your league. If the players you choose do well in a particular game (in real life), you get points for your fantasy team. I've had a blast over the past four years, but I've always fallen a little short of the playoffs.

Until now.

For the first time, my team has made the playoffs! Yea!
(And yes, my team name is "Your Momma's Revenge.")

Sewing Up Love

It's official. The camera cord appears to be kaput. Sigh. Oh well, at least the camera still works. I'll get a replacement cord soon enough and be up and running again. In the meantime, it's the camera phone to the rescue!

Since I started sewing (you know, a month or two ago), I've had a particular project in mind. There are several things I'm interested in making, but one project in particular that served as the major motivation to get moving. I won't go into details here (I'll save that for another post), but the project involves making some quilt-block letters. I found patterns that I liked, but I thought I better get a little practice first. So, I made smaller versions of some of the letters.

Lo...and behold

I started with the "L" (with the help on one of my friends) and then proceeded to make the "O" as well. Since I like to have a "purpose" for my crafts, I decided to make my letters into something useful.

Ta-da!!!

My love pillow.

It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm pretty pleased with it. Not bad for my first real sewing project since 7th grade home ec!

Now, what should I make next?
